PO1 William "Chip" Nagel Seem pretty cut and dry to me. I had no idea that a skateboard could be used in that way. Guess I should have been more careful out in California.

Exactly the point. Self defense from what?? Sorry if I didn't make it clear. He should be in jail doing hard time.

PO2 Russell "Russ" Lincoln SGT Charlie Lee - Yeah, the thing you're missing is that Rittenhouse chased down no one. He was chased down. Once he tripped while fleeing, attackers closed on him. You can even hear someone shouting "get his ass." Then, and only then, after he was on the ground surrounded, and with more closing in, did he open fire. He fired controlled, aimed shots at the nearest attacker. Then at the next attacker who moved to attack (Rosenbaum, with the skateboard), then at the third. After the third person was shot, no one else attempted to close with Rittenhouse, he lowered his weapon, moved away from the scene. At the sound of gunfire, he turned toward the gunfire, raised his weapon again, but saw no threat. He then lowered his weapon and backed away, and immediately surrendered to the police.

Here's a video. In the very beginning we see Rittenhouse fleeing, being chased by a mob. He's the guy in a greenish shirt with a rifle in his hands.

But the Daily KOS, of course, refuses to admit that it actually *was* self defense.

Naaaah... I won't push the decapitation idea BUT it certainly could be lethal or negatively life changing.

I've heard of creative defense arguments but that's never going to fly.

SPC Terry Page Call It My Background, You Hit Me with a Skateboard, I'm MOAB Trained, Tae Kwan Do a long time Ago, I Might beat the Crap out of You but Shooting You, Not Going to Happen! Minimum Force Necessary! I served on 3 "Armed" Security Alert Teams, Sniper on One! That "Punk" "Kid" Already had it in His Mind to Assassinate Someone or Many More.

PO1 William "Chip" Nagel - If someone who knows how to use it hits you with a skateboard, the only way you are going to beat the crap out of them is by hunting them down after you get out of the hospital.

PO1 William "Chip" Nagel - And when you are sitting on your ass on the ground because you have tripped while trying to flee - i.e. trying NOT to engage?

And when the person with the skateboard has full mobility, standing upright (with accompanying "upper ground" advantage), you have your hands full, and the attacker has the size advantage even if you WERE upright - which you are not?

You are still going to, somehow, beat the crap out of your attacker, rather than using the weapon you already have in your hand and available?
