If the troopers were acting correctly, why delay the release of the video footage?

SrA John Monette They Beat that Man to Death and They Know what they Did. I'm Just Surprised they didn't destroy the Camera and the Record.

PO1 William "Chip" Nagel - Well, that would have just been stupid. Of course, ensuring your cameras on while you are beating someone to death isn't exactly MENSA material.

PO1 William "Chip" Nagel - no reason to bother destroying the bodycam when they know their bosses will never release the video.
Everyone talks about "race" as the reason the cops beat Greene -- and I'm sure that race played a part in the reasons for the cover-up, but the reality is that cops regularly use "excessive force" to punish subjects who run or resist arrest. The chase or the fight works up a rush of adrenaline and the cops take their frustration out on the subject, regardless of race. You don't hear about it as much because no one gives a damn when cops beat a white criminal.

Way back in the day, I got a grant for body cameras for the PD. Two weeks after they were deployed, we had an incident in which the body camera saved the officer from being falsely dragged into court. The suspect’s story didn’t hold up after the footage was reviewed, and the charges were upgraded as a result. The have no “dog in the fight”, they only show what they see…

They should keep everyone honest, but there will always be those trying to play the system on both sides of the camera
