America is headed for a revolution... I hope everybody can figure out which side to be on.... A few people at the top with all the money are trying to make you believe the war is between the right and the left, but it really is not.... the real fight is between the few holding most of the wealth and the rest of us... this has happened many times in history where the rich keep getting richer and the poor get poorer.... Not many people are living the American Dream any more.... it ain't for the middle class any more.... it's a long disappeared dream in America... I hope Americans come to their senses... Democrats are not your enemy, we want to take from the rich and give to the poor yes, but if you are not making over a million dollars a year, we don't call you rich. People making 400K should pay 40%, right where George W Bush taxed them, but we do want to go up to 43% on the really rich. This should be enough to give everyone a higher quality of life... This will drastically cut crime more than anything else we can do..... Do you want the streets to be safe again, this is the way.... we have had inheritance for a long time... right now, it only effects people with over 25 million dollars, we need to drop that back down to the first million being untaxed, then 43% on the rest.... the great minds think this will be sufficient.... and they can afford it....

So, if we are open to a conversation where we can disagree with each other and still show mutual respect....I'd like to ask when higher tax rates have resulted in lower crime. I just don't think there's a strong correlation there. I think the crime correlation is much stronger between support (financial and moral) for our law enforcement and our judiciary than it is with tax rates. Taxing the rich even more (say, 100% of what they make) would STILL not increase revenue enough to pay for the expansion of medicaid and other social welfare programs. There just aren't enough rich people for the math to work.

Col Joseph Lenertz - It's the entire cycle of society that needs to change... If we had government run health care, they would be able to cut cost drastically a hundred different ways.... if the poor have the basics at home, a roof over their head, a tv with cable, and a couch with climate control, they are much less likely to be out committing a crime to get those things for their kids.
We already have more people in prison than any other country in the world by far... and we still have high crime rates on the streets, this is a big red flag that what we are doing is not working. Nature has a way of correcting itself... so does society... if we don't change the way we treat the earth, Mother Nature will get rid of all of us and heal herself, for a few hundred million years anyway... if we don't change society to work better, it will continue to get worse until finally the less fortunate will rise up and take what they want... they are the 90+ %. It may take another 200 years, but it might only take 20 more years.... things are getting worse before our eyes...

PFC David Foster - I agree with your final sentence, things are getting worse. I think we'd need to have a long conversation with beer or bourbon to come to some agreement (and understanding what we simply disagree on too) regarding the causes of crime and poverty. I trust and respect every working man and woman. Their WORK gives them WORTH, their lives' value. Govt run ANYTHING will not help that. Like I said, requires bourbon. Cheers PFC David Foster !
