Big cities will never solve their crime issues until a new approach to drug abuse is addressed.
Otherwise, regardless the number of cops, the crime and violence will continue.

MSgt Robert "Rock" Aldi - Rock, it still comes back to drugs. Cops bust a man for drugs, he tries to get away, and he is shot. People are tired of folks getting shot by police so they protest. It is all tied together.
Seriously address drug abuse, less crime. Less crime, less police abuse. Less police abuse, less protesting.
All tied together.

They should make the Southside like something out of Escape From New York. Now that we have open borders, the fentanyl is coming in so the new drugs will be killing more in the South Side just like something out of New Jack City. It is a multifaceted problem. I knew a supervisor in security who used to work at Cabrini-Green in the south side and he was armed to the teeth because that high-rise project was nothing more than a breeding ground of drugs, gangs and poverty. Back in the late 80s, I remember driving to the South side because I wanted to go see German submarine U-505. I made a wrong turn and was driving around part of the south side and all I saw was what you people hanging out in front of liquor stores. The Southside look pretty bad and there were lots of boarded-up buildings. President Trump tried to help minorities but the south side of Chicago it's like West Beirut. It would need the Illinois National Guard in there to stop all the fighting. Mayor Lori Lightfoot is an idiot not too different than President Biden and taking protection away from the police. With immunity taken away from the cops and with the vaccine mandate being put to their head like a Smith & Wesson from Dirty Harry, no wonder 1500 cops are quitting. It's a mess and no easy answer but the Democrats are making it much worse.

MSgt Robert "Rock" Aldi - Not trying to legislate morality. I am looking outside the box, to use an old chestnut.

Bare with me.
What if:
Drugs were not illegal. None. Decriminalized.
We treat the use as a disease, not a crime.
We offer a protected, safe place to go while using.
The government produces and distributes the drugs.

Just like bootleg booze, stiff penalties for illegal production and distribution.

We all know the results of Prohibition. Unmitigated disaster.

Lot's to work out there, but may be worth a look. We are losing the war right now, our young people are killing each other over it, our prisons are filled because of it. We lost the war against booze and we will never win the war against illegal drugs.

Time to find a different approach.
