Denzel Washington is the US Army’s newest (honorary) sergeant major

He went to Mainland High School here in Daytona Beach for a year. Great actor! I just watched one of his movies yesterday! Glad to have his support.

I did a little research and located an article that said he was awarded the Honorary Sergeant Major of the Army credits by current SMA Grinston. According to the article, Denzel is only the second person ever awarded these honors. It was said he did incredible work, for over 20 years, with the Fischer House foundation that builds houses for Army families to live in while family members are receiving critical long term care in Army Hospitals. These houses are known as Fischer Houses. This foundation also helps pay hotel and other expenses of family members who are undergoing critical care at Army hospitals. No mention was made in the article of how these honors are nominated, critiqued nor determined only that it was awarded at the annual AUSA conference and that a system is in place and has only been awarded twice. It did not give the name of the other awardee either.
