Sad news that General Ray Odierno, former Chief of Staff of the US Army died at age 67. We met at several Army football games, he would pace the sidelines.
Perhaps our most memorable coverage was at the August 2012 Concussion Awareness seminar at West Point. Gen Odierno and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell spoke publicly that both the NFL and US Army would commit to encourage both players and soldiers to identify concussions, be treated, and take time to heal.
From then on the term "Concussion Protocol" became a regular part of athletic culture and military culture.
General O as those around him was known was simply "A Great American".
Our condolences to his family especially his son Anthony, an injured veteran, who we met when he was an executive with the NY Yankees.
