Whether the US will enter a MTW with China over Taiwan has hinged on one thing for the past 40 years. The spine of POTUS. I fear for the people of Taiwan.

If China consumes Taiwan what is to stop China from taking the chain of islands up through, and including, Okinawa and Japan? And if Japan, and its territories, comes into China's crosshairs will we honor our treaty and agreement from WW-II?

I found this in the Porcupine Strategy:
"The Taiwan Relations Act does not bind the US to defend Taiwan. It is required to provide Taiwan with the capacity to defend itself. Over the past decade, America has announced more than $20 billion in arms sales to Taiwan."
