The science long ago was thrown out with the bath water. "Follow the science" is now a political term and has nothing to do with actual science. However, MONEY is the central axiom of politics. i.e.: How can we tear it from the People and put it in our pockets!

@Cpl Kirk - This article seems to focus only on two drugs, Uloric, a gout drug, and Nuplazid, a drug for hallucinations and delusions associated with Parkinson’s disease, so I am hesitant to rush to conclusions based on the article posted by Propublica.org... Having said that, Uloric, in studies has serious issues... Nuplazid also has some issues or negative side effects... and I am sure that there may have been pressure on the FDA to approve these two drugs... Based on my limited reading, I would not take either of these medications...

The focus is irrelevant in today's political climate. It shows that the unelected bureaucracies are not immune from corruption. When profit is the primary motive to reach the market, what are they willing to do to make that profit (pharma) and get paid (fda).
