Nowadays, they might take away a sailor’s liberty by placing them on restriction (confine them to quarters and extra musters), assigning them extra duties, dock their pay (and/or reduce your rank), or put them in the brig (on large ships that still have them).

I know some sailors get to see more of the world than other solders, but I could never have joined the Navy. Thanks to all who can take living like that to help keep us safe!
