FDA vaccine panel votes against Pfizer booster shot for general population

The FDA's vaccine panel on Sept. 17 voted against approving a booster dose of Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine in the general population.
In a meeting of the Vaccines and Related Biological Products Advisory Committee broadcast on the FDA's YouTube channel, 16 of the committee's 18 members voted that there was not enough safety and effectiveness data to approve a third Pfizer dose for people 16 years and older.
Pfizer had asked the FDA to approve a third dose of its COVID-19 vaccine in people ages 16 and older at least six months after the second dose.
The panel did vote to recommend the FDA authorize a booster shot for people 65 years and older or people at high risk of severe COVID-19.
The FDA is not required to follow the panel's vote, but it often does. The panel is made up of independent scientific experts, infectious disease physicians and statisticians.
The FDA likely will make its decision early next week, according to The New York Times.

Right now boosters will only be needed for the most vulnerable. The general population hasn't been vaccinated for even a year yet. We have no idea how long term blanket immunity is

PFC (Join to see) brother I hear you. I would rather keep my mouth shut and have nothing to do with any of this. But I am not being left alone. I am being told I will have to get out of the Army. I may lose my civilian job. People are pushing to make it so I cant go buy food. All while those same people are telling me they arent trying to force me.

SSG (Join to see) this is why I told you a couple of days ago decisions will have to be made. You're gonna have to move to Florida, Texas, maybe Tennessee if you don't wanna be forced to get it. Otherwise you'll have no choice if you stay in the service or become a federal contractor/employee.

My wife has a lot of issues and because of that we both HAD OUR BOOSTER 2 WEEKS AGO. Get the shot people, don't be like my buddy that we buried.

Probably the best move on pfizer, being a vaccine that stops working at about 4 months to come out with a booster that works for about 2 weeks.
