Sun Tzu and the Art of Soft Power?

China definitely has endeavored in large economic relations with many countries. Right now our military hardware, vehicles, ships, planes in totality are significantly greater than China’s. If we go to war with them we will have a good chance of eliminating key assets needed for them to defend the country and to go on the offensive against us.

I will use a WWII example. When we destroyed all of Japan’s aircraft carriers the Japanese navy could not protect her fleets nor could they attack our fleets. They had no naval air power. The second order effect was Japan could not support her army that was spread out all over the Pacific Ocean. The third order effect was the Japanese army was dying on the vine without logistical support. It was just a matter time as we killed the Japanese army and we got closer and closer to Japan to mete violence against the country. We did use atomic bombs, but the fire bombings were also devastating, especially because they used a lot of wood to build a lot of structures.

I think we will pursue air superiority. If we can accomplish that, we will do a lot of damage against the Chinese military. I don’t care about their 10,000,000 person military or whatever their number is. I worry about their Navy and Air Force, but our numbers are vastly superior to theirs. It can be very bad for China if they try total war because it will give us reasons to crush Chinese cities if we have air superiority.
