Our school district, after nearly a thousand cases of quarantined and confirmed cases this week alone, is going to mandate mask wearing. I presume the governor, DeSantis, will defund our school district. LTC Eugene Chu Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen

It's a shame that it takes that big of a number to get leaders to act. They mandated masks in my sons' two schools from day one. They are in two different school districts.

Hillsborough County has gotten their letter from Corcoran and I think Sarasota County has as well. Our news says they don't anticipate changing the mandate. Wife and I are in 11th day of self quarantine after visiting our 11 year old grandson who got Covid from Pinellas County schools where masks are optional. As a teacher you may be able to relate to this, his parents tell him to wear a mask but when he gets into school and most of the kids aren't, he takes it off because kids make fun of him.

SrA John Monette - The funny thing is I see elementary school students wearing their masks more correctly than most adults. They can teach many adults about the risks of COVID and the necessity of CDC recommendations.

We won't get a statewide mandate, but now that the courts have overruled our petty tyrant legislators we are masking a majority of our schools. I've been generally pleased with the number of voluntary mask wearers in the metro areas, but that drops off considerably when you get into our lesser educated rural areas.
