I'm mostly Irish from the County Clare/Limerick area, home of brigands, rebels, and ne'er-do-wells. Dowd, Kennedy, and so forth. Came by way of Newfoundland, generations of cops and firemen. Next is Ashkenazi Jew from the Latvia, Lithuania, Belarus region. Mix in about 10% each of Norse, Swedish, and Scotch and you pretty well have me. Can't claim any sort of long heritage in the US. As near as I can tell none of my ancestors were here before the 1850s. In fact, I can remember a couple that were immigrants, and knew quite a few who were first generation.
