Well I am a doctor, and you are spot on. It’s common sense and everyone in public health immunology agrees.

I'm no doctor, but I can read. And your statement "...everyone in public health immunology agrees" makes no sense at all.

The pandemic is like a war and COVID is on the offense. Rationally, the country and people must do all they can to defend against the enemy. There is a concept called Revolution In Military Affairs (RMA). It is a new doctrine, vehicle, munitions, or technology that gives a military a great advantage over the other.
Having said that, I am very concerned that more variants will be created and become RMAs. The horrible logic is the stronger variants by definition will cause the most harm and might become impervious to the vaccines, thus we can’t kill the pandemic. I think I can safely assume many of us are concerned with new variants and how they change pandemic dynamics. The irrational people hear, see, and fear no evil.
Darwin identified mutations and studied embryos and how embryos from different species were similar. He surmised that mutations led to different species and variations within species. He did not have the technology to understand the mechanics of mutations. We have the technology to understand part of the process now. Scientists have concluded it may only take a change in handful of genes to cause mutations. This is very unsettling to me. There is another mutated COVID called Lambda, but fortunately it is not a super spreader. My fingers are crossed.
