I am no expert in regards to Burma. I will go on with “what I think I know”. The Japanese army had a head start with much larger forces, and set the tempo in that campaign. The terrain was jungle and often muddy. British soldiers and soldiers from their kingdom to include American soldiers did some extraordinary things like March on foot more than a thousand miles through some rough and dense terrain.
Our Army Air Force provided logistics support to the Brits and the Chinese. Over time the allied forces built up their forces and American ground forces entered the campaign. We shut down the Japanese logistics and it became a war of attrition for the Japanese. The table was turned and the allied forces became the hunters. It is virtually impossible to fight without beans and bullets.
