Heres a good one about hippa. Im in the middle of a VA Claim and and a third party group is making an appointment for me. Ok no problem. So I ask why am going to the chiropractor when my claim has nothing to do with my back etc. The third party people said that due to hippa they can not discuss that. I said hold on. First you called me and went threw the quick verification process (ssn, first and last name etc.) Now I just gave you all of my identifiable information and now your claiming that due to hippa you can't me why I'm being seen at the chiropractor when I never made a claim for the chiropractor. I would have responded, "Now that you have all my personal information but cannot tell me the specific reason you needed it, I am reporting you to the VA as someone acting fraudulent under their name."

Sir, the illegality would be these people coming to the door and asking why you hadn't been vaccinated. That question is against the HIPA law because it shows they already looked at your private medical info which is criminal.

At two different clinical agencies I served as the HIPPA compliance supervisor. The patient is the gatekeeper of intimate clinical data pertaining to them. Clinicians are the guardians of this data. We only release with written patient consent and only what is "minimally required by a third party". And we conduct our ourselves to " consistently act in the patients best interests".
