Despite vaccine, the number of COVID-19 patients needing critical care is soaring

We have had nearly 80 hospitalizations at just one of our hospitals here in my county. Almost half of the 23 persons in ICUs are on ventilators. I took my wife to the doctor and the sign on the door said those vaccinated need not wear a mask, but all others need to! We're on the honor system now, I guess.
"Halifax Health is currently handling 72 COVID-19 positive patients, 23 of which are in intensive care and 11 of those are on ventilators.
Health officials say the majority of COVID-19 patients are from the unvaccinated population.
“We are higher than any number that we've had at any point of this pandemic from its beginning,” Chief Medical Officer Dr. Margaret Crossman said.
Crossman said the mix of summer events and celebrations in an only partially vaccinated population is the reason Halifax Health is seeing an explosion in COVID-19 positive people needing critical care. She said the virus is socializing too.
“It circulates, it mutates and it gets a little more capable of transmitting and getting past barriers,” Crossman said.
Officials said they are seeing more cases in younger people as well."

The problem I have with this honor system is that we have to rely on those who refused to wear masks or get vaccinated to be honorable. People who care less about their fellow citizens are going to shed masks period, the fact that they haven't been vaccinated has nothing to do with it. Take my completely unprofessional survey as an example. In Florida only around 40% of the population has been completely vaccinated. This means that you should be seeing around 60% still wearing masks, yet on my trip to Publix earlier this week just about the only people wearing masks were employees.

Colonel your area is way above Pierce County, Georgia. Only 29% of the 19K residents have been vaccinated. I hope the publicity will motivate the others.
