It may have been horrible but apparently it was fun to watch. You would think that with Cable TV and all we could televise them

To be “ drawn and quartered” was a horrendous form of execution, similar to crucifixion in its barbarity. It sounds benign but it was anything but: the victim was bound spread-eagled on a wooden cross and was slowly disemboweled by the executioner who was standing between his legs. The victim’s innards were then drawn out of his body and piled in a heap on his chest while he was still alive and watching as it happened. The last organ to be withdrawn was his still-beating heart, which was added to the pile of entrails. Finally, the executioner began systematically chopping off the victim’s limbs, conituing until all four had been severed from the torso. It was common then for the torso to be hanged from a gallows and left suspended for several days while crows feasted on the putrefying carcass.
