The family and I went out to eat at Applebee’s the other day (we have a special needs child and he loves their grilled cheese so I agreed to go there). Our normal bill for an appetizer soft drinks and two adult entrees and a kids meal is usually around 40-45$ with 20% tip included.
Our bill was $65 with a 20% tip. We tipped the waiter well because it wasn’t his fault he basically had half the tables in the restaurant and the other waiter had the other half. It took them over 20 minutes to get our drink orders. Then another 15-20 minutes to take our food order. Then another 20 minutes to get our actual meals. The portion sizes also were a lot smaller. Inflation and the lack of people wanting to actually have a job and instead sitting on unemployment has taken any of the joy out of going out to eat. It’s been this way the last 3-4 times our family has went out to eat. I’m done. I’ll just cook my own food at home. I like to go out and also stimulate the economy, but sorry not worth the crap service and waits for subpar food and significantly higher prices. The restaurant industry has quickly become the airline industry.
