Groundbreaking Black Dancer And Aerialist Alice Clark Brown Dies At 68

Alice Clark Brown, who joined the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus as a teenager and became a historic member of the famed troupe, has died at age 68. She was the first Black dancer and aerialist in the Blue Unit, one of the two shows by the Ringling Bros. Sunday TODAY’s Willie Geist remembers a life well lived.

PO1 William "Chip" Nagel Thank you for sharing this piece of history with us here on RP. As a little girl I wanted to be an acrobat, like Alice Clark Brown though I never knew of her. She passed away here in my home town, Oak Park, IL according to the video - and I wish I had spent time with her somehow. A missed opportunity for a great conversation. May Alice Clark Brown rest in peace.
