Dramatic video captured the moment a carnival ride in Michigan almost toppled over as bystanders rushed to stabilize the attraction.
The Magic Carpet Ride at the 95th Annual National Cherry Festival in Traverse City began to have visible problems Thursday night.
Trevor Drew, a digital content producer for WPBN-TV, was on the ride when it started to rock back and forth. It appeared to lift off the ground with each sway.
"I've been on that type of ride before, and I could tell it was like a lot more violent," Drew said. "It seemed a little more shaky."
About a dozen fairgoers intervened and held onto the fencing around the ride's base to keep it from falling over. Once the ride stopped, the crowd cheered as the riders hopped off and ran to hug their loved ones.
No one was injured. Arnold Amusements, which provided the ride, told WPBN-TV that the manufacturer is investigating the cause of the malfunction.
