I just returned from the emergency room at Martinsburg, WV VAMC at 0130 Romeo time on Wednesday, July 7, 2021. I signed in about 1600 and was weak from back and abdominal spasms and not able to eat since early morning or drink fluids since I took my morning medicines.
A nurse attempted to draw blood from me. She prodded and eventually drew 3 vials of blood from me. Unfortunately, the vials had blood clots and were minimally useful.
I was admitted to emergency private room 13 [negative pressure] Another nurse attempted to draw blood from my right inner arm and then my left outer arm. In both cases my skin was too tough to draw blood easily. My skin is relatively tough in my forearm from hundreds of blood draws over the decades
After the physician’s assistant examined my abdomen, she told me I would be scheduled for a CT SCAN with contrast. Before I could get the CT SCAN, I needed to be cleared by examining my blood including my kidney health.
A nurse came in and carefully examined my arms and was able to draw three vials which were rushed off. Soon I was cleared for the CT SCAN with iodine contrast of my abdomen.
Before the results came in, a nurse came in with a liter of intravenous fluid to replenish my fluids. I needed to urinate and got unhooked from everything and went to the bathroom down the hall. After I got back, I learned they needed a urine sample.
The intravenous fluid tube was blocked. A nurse helped unblock it and the fluid flowed freely.
It turned out a 6 mm kidney stone had passed through my right kidney and was in between that kidney and the bladder with an infection.
After the fluid fully drained, I was able to donate a urine sample. That was checked quickly and I was free from urinary tract infection.
I did not need any new medications since the medications I already have prescribed for me included the best medicine for me to take as well as lots of water.
I was released at 2356 Romeo time.
The end of that matter was certainly better than the beginning, by God's grace.

That's quite an encounter, Br'er Stephen. Our Lord is definitely looking over you. I know how hard it can be to give blood as I, too, have had a gazillion blood draws since 1985 when I first got blood clots in my right lower leg along with a staph infection while on REFORGER '85 in January. Lord, please watch over brother Stephen and give him your healing touch and the rest he needs to recover from this ordeal. Watch over his wife and give her peace. In Your Holy Name, amen.

wow, you really had a go of it, I was passing minute blood a few years back and Dc's didn't know why, finialy an ultra sound and detection of small kidney stone. Doc told me to add lemon juice to my drinking water to disolve the stone. It worked and no more traces of blood

This one seems to be at the upper bound of passable or lower bound of unpassable.
