California proves it cannot be done for 16 billion. Boondoggle to beat all. This is a grand ponzu scheme where the few at the top get rich and Texas gets kissed

Several major differences with California. First Texas is being built entirely with private money for a distance of roughly only 240 miles. Second, Texas is using a LIFT and SHIFT approach with proven technology for 100% of the system to be built. Third, Nobody in Texas proposed building the HSR by boring through the base of two major mountain ranges and California's system was at least 500 miles if not longer. Forth, most of the land being transited is sparsely populated. Fifth, Texas Central claims it has more than 50% of the $16 Billion price tag already lined up and committed and can start construction this year. California took almost a full decade or more to get to the point of construction from approval and the final pricetag for California was $100 Billion. The initial price tag for California was by state officials vs the actual construction firm that would do the building. California's High speed rail also had a speed limit of 270 mph vs the Texas line which will only need to hit 200 mph. Huge reduction in costs right there.

We will see. It is interesting how Gov. Abbot and his cronies forgot about the 120 people they let FREEZE due to their wonderful go it alone Texas power grid.
