I remember telling a commander in Panama that we had found a rifle in the jungle leaning against a tree. We were instructed to bring it back immediately. It took a chainsaw to cut a slice of the tree out and then the root that had grown around it. M14 from the 60s.
Last I knew it was at 193rd Brigade HQ.

Someone lost a bayonet in Basic and we all looked for hours until it was found. A couple weeks later the person responsible revealed himself by threatening a DI telling him next time no one would know a weapon was missing.
