There were so many opportunities, such as this, for the axis powers to get the upper hand and keep it. We had a fair amount of luck, and God's providence in our efforts in WWII.

The Germans supposedly were able to take Paris with very little resistance from a couple of articles I remember reading years ago brother SGT (Join to see)

From what I read the French counted on their Maginot Line and a mechanized army with more tanks than the Germans used. I believe that was their doctrine to defend France. Doctrines might be tested in war, and the French doctrine is no exception. If my memory is correct, the German mechanized forces went around the Maginot Line. The French Army was so centralized that it was incapable of fighting well because it was inflexible. The Germans went through the French forces like a hot butter knife going through soft butter. If you want me to tell you why the Germans were so well prepared for WWII, just ask me. I would love to share the story.

Have a most excellent day.

SGT David A. 'Cowboy' Groth - I appreciate that you like military history. Many times I get no response. It becomes a disincentive to invest my time to write about military history.
