Remember seeing this happen on a PBS special a few years ago brother SGT (Join to see) , it was a great presentation to see.

That was an incredible achievement! And he did it without any of the modern navigational aids, only a magnetic compass to guide him. I wonder what he used for a piddle-pack? He was in the air for thirty-three and a half hours, so he must have used something in which to relieve himself. He had mui grande cajones to undertake that challenge.

1LT Voyle Smith I have a friend, retired Air Force U2 pilot. We spoke about that very situation once. He said he had a bladder for urine but anything else he was chit out of luck! Lol

SFC William Farrell - I once flew on a T29 that had a relief tube in the floor, with a funnel mounted above it. You whizzed into the funnel and it went straight down as yellow rain over the countryside. But I never did learn how they handled a #2.
