The blaze, named the Intanko Fire, had spread over more than a square mile by late Tuesday. It damaged at least two buildings, YubaNet Fire News reported.
It started near Camp Far West Lake in Wheatland, about 36 miles north of Sacramento. Some residents there were told to evacuate, as were those living in military housing on Beale Air Force Base, according to the Yuba County Sheriff.
County officials posted a tweet that said: "By order of the Beale AFB fire chief, all housing residents east of East Garryanna in base housing must immediately evacuate toward elementary school parking lot. Fire is heading directly toward that area,"
