"When New York police officers temporarily reduced their “proactive policing” efforts on low-level offenses, major-crime reports in the city actually fell, according to a study based on New York Police Department crime statistics."

"Newly released dispatch data show that New Haven police officers respond to a head-spinning diversity of calls every year — and that only a small percentage of those calls involve violent offenses."

"A review of publicly available data in three areas reveals that much of an officer’s job revolves around handling routine calls rather than violent crime."
And it goes on. Police rarely solve crimes. They rarely get calls to violent crimes. They don't prevent crime. When there's fewer police, there's fewer calls. Most of their calls are responding to property issues.
So yet another false headline from FoxNews. Those two incidents have nothing to do with "Defund" the police.

Well this study seems to indicate that increasing police reduces serious crime and arrests for serious crime. https://www.npr.org/sections/money/2021/04/20/988769793/when-you-add-more-police-to-a-city-what-happens

One of the problems with police response is you are never sure which calls or responses will lead to violence.

While the idea of completely defunding the police is not a good idea (or the goal of most people that use this phrase), tieing any particular criminal activity to be the result of the movement is a non sequitur.
