American journalist detained while trying to flee Myanmar

An American journalist was detained by Myanmar as he attempted to leave the country, according to his family and news organization.

Danny Fenster, 37, who worked as managing editor for Frontier Myanmar, was said to have been detained by local authorities at Yangon International Airport on Monday morning shortly before boarding a flight to Kuala Lumpur.

His brother, Bryan Fenster, said on Facebook the family is “absolutely stunned and extremely confused as to why Dan was detained”.
