After reading the charges to which she was found guilty, I became very suspicious that there was way more to the story than "bible verses". This is a young trooper who thought she was smarter than everyone else and she paid the price. On the plus side for her, she gets to go through life believing in her heart she was unjustly prosecuted for her religious beliefs.
The USMC is better off without the PITA.

I'll revert to "old school terminology" in defining the behavior and character deficiencies of this sorry excuse for a former Marine: a "malingering malcontent," who should've never graduated from boot camp. The lengthy, yet exceedingly well-written and well-referenced, ruling handed down by the appellate judges is an excellent one! Oorah!

CDR (Join to see) - question for you Jim; I've been out of the military for some time, so, what is PITA and POS? Thanks

Actual charges & conviction:
"She was found guilty of failing to go to her appointed place of duty, disrespect toward a superior commissioned officer, and four specifications of disobeying the lawful order of a noncommissioned officer."

Seems to me she got exactly what was coming to her. A medical chit, which I'm guessing is the MC version of an Army profile, is not an excuse to do whatever you want. My unit has a POS doing something similar. We've tried getting rid of him, but for some reason my CO believes he can be rehabilitated.

SGT (Join to see) Chit = profile. From my reading, she was in an antagonistic relationship with her SNCO, tried to use her chit in unintended ways, violated orders of not only her SSgt, but the 1stSgt as well (Sounds like she was given multiple chances to correct herself), and it finally just escalated to Special CM.

It didn't escalate to a Special CM she refused a NJP (which in this case I would have taken).

She would of gotten reduced a rank, some restriction, extra duty and loss of pay as a worse case scenario out of an NJP. Not sure how anyone decides to refuse the NJP and then says, hey I am going to defend myself at the court martial.

She wasn't court martialed for scripture, that's just shoddy journalists trying to sell papers. Here are the actual court documents. She was a problem child with a long history of disciplinary problems.
