Funny how it was Christians who ended slavery in England and fought to ended it in America. It was the theology of American Quakers that Wilberforce used as a foundation for ending slavery in England.. Pretty hard to reconcile “ do unto others as you would have them do unto you” and still support slavery. Hard to reconcile slavery with Christ saying “ love one anther as I have loved you”. Of course many atheistic countries have supported slave labor and worse. Why communist China runs slave labor camps today where women are submitted to forced sterilization, gang raped at night and forced to labor during the day. But who am I to criticize an atheist? Of course communist just ignore the abuses of their atheists system to abuse people so there is no philosophical conundrum.

Capt Gregory Prickett - PS those that founded communist countries were atheists and very brutal about their use of power. You want to say “all Christians support slavery” so can I say all atheists support and are represented by the atheist governments of communism? I pointed out that Christ said “I give you a new commandment, love one another as I have loved you”. This was a wide open command and has improved the world. Christians stoped the practice of leaving babies by the forrest edge to die, stopped the selling of children into sexual bondage in religious temples in India, ended slavery in England and the US, conducted medical missions and established medical facilities around the world, interviewed to provide food during famines etc. etc. etc. Christ fully understood the perils Christians would face. Rome ran on slavery. You fought the battles you could win. The majority of people in America were Christians and slavery lasted less than 100 years. The Chinese are still practicing slavery. You are always posting quotes denigrating religious people as being closed minded etc. I remind you that Gregor Mendel found the field of genetics, oh he was a monk. The Big Bang theory was developed by a Catholic clergyman, calculus was developed by two people Isaac Newton was a Diest and one of the greatest minds to ever exist the other was a Christian. A large portion of Nobel Prize winners in science are Christians. Hardly the closed minds you proclaim.

Capt Gregory Prickett - I will agree with you that some Christians supported Slavery. Christian thinking also saw to It’s end in western civilization.
