LTC (Join to see) - We use to get CTV on the TV and remember this being a big story in Canada. They were building planes back in the 50's and superior to anything else in the world, suddenly shut down and everything destroyed. I think it was Defenbaker who said it was cheaper to buy than build.

Another point of trivia, before we were into WW2 the USA would fly war planes to the Pembina port, an area farmer would hook a team of horses to the plane and drag them into Canada, part of the lend lease program according to my father

I started reading about the Pacific War and learned sinking all the Japanese air carriers would let us dominate the seas, air, and deny the Japanese army that was spread out the necessary war materials. I think I can strongly assume the Japanese army faced attrition because the Japanese navy was incapable of supporting their logistics. I am sure this attrition was a significant factor in eliminating any pretense the Japanese army could win. We had to find them and kill them. The question was not would we win, but when we would win. The Japanese army was incapable of continuing to fight a war of attrition.
