Dr. Jenny D'Olympia is the Director of the Master of Arts in Psychology Program, Interim Director of the Military Veteran Psychology and Train Vets to Treat Vets Programs, and the Assistant Chair for the Counseling and Behavioral Health Department at William James College. Dr. D'Olympia spoke on the demanding job of nursing through the COVID-19 pandemic and many of the parallels that are often seen in Veteran and military populations.

I think it is important vets take care of vets in a lot of cases, especially where understanding our experiences matter.

Yes Sir Sgt Melvin Sir...I don't think too many Civilians can even come close to helping a Veteran...if you haven't been there, then you wouldn't be able to understand...Sincerely, Ken

It can be a sharp learning curve for many of our Civilian counterparts to understand what military members and Veterans experience. I wouldn't simply disregard many of them because of lack of military service. Luckily, my Civilian peers who plan to work with Veterans attend tons of additional training and classes so that they can begin to understand. It's hard to say that any Veteran would understand because "they've been there" because all of our military experiences are different and subjective to the individual.
