Thank you for the post PO1 William "Chip" Nagel. I saw the gov vetoed and assumed it was over and done with. Learned something new today.
My question would be if Arkansas can start putting out of state youths in prison, fine parents or seek out families who gained care out of state.

I believe this should be the case. The human brain isn’t fully Mature until mid twenties. I have seen too many people make decisions in their youth they regretted as they matured. Irreversible genital surgery should not be one!

I would agree, Sir. But belief system of "not mature enough" isn't valid. We enlist 17 year olds in the military, but never once question their mental maturity and regret from enlisting. We let 18 to 20 year olds get issued rifles to fight in combat, whereas civilians can't legally own a rifle let alone most firearms until they're 21 (dependant on state and state based loopholes) but we never question their mental maturity when they come home.
I personally agree that genital reconstructive surgery shouldn't be offered to those who can't legally pay taxes or deploy overseas. But we let them fight, kill, smoke and drink before they're fully mentally matured.

SFC (Join to see) - I largely agree, my brother joined at 17. I think it screwed him up a bit. I often tell the story of a young lady 19 years old who decided she didn’t want children and wanted to be sterilized. She wasn’t married and had no children. The hospital I worked at refused. She sued, the judge ruled the hospital had to sterilize her. The hospital agreed proved she under went psychological counseling, medical counseling and spiritual counseling. All warned her sterilization should be considered non reversible. She went ahead and was sterilized. Well a few years later she met Mr wonderful and wanted children. She sued the hospital and doctor.

What I find unsettling about this is that the law is going against the most recent study on the effectiveness of treating transgender youth.

We can expect multiple lawsuits against the law by LGBTQ+ legal nonprofits and ACLU.
Secondly, seeing this law come into being within a less than a week of the Biden Administration's plan to open the military services to transgender people -- again. These transgender folk will receive appropriate medical treatment in the military services.

First off the surgery on someone under 18 is the rare exception. What these laws do is prevent one from entering puberty allowing them and their medical care givers to assess the situation. By taking the action that Ark. has only harms the children.

This is a slippery slope I for one think they should just have came up with an age to limit it. Example make it the same age as consistent to get married or have sex without parental approval. If it's 16 then put the ban to age of 16 ect.
