Russia has withdrawn its US ambassador for consultations about future ties with America. A US intelligence report found that during the presidential campaign Moscow spread "misleading or unsubstantiated" allegations about Joe Biden with the aim of undermining the broader election process.

The report also accuses Iran of trying to weaken support for Donald Trump. And it alleges Russian intelligence pushed anti-Biden narratives to media outlets and to senior officials and allies of Mr Trump.
