Ron Johnson attacked for saying he’d be more ‘threatened’ by BLM, Antifa than Jan. 6 protesters who ‘love this country’
Wisconsin Sen. Ron Johnson is facing attacks and smears from the left for admitting that he’d initially felt no fear on Jan. 6th because of there being no history whatsoever of Trump supporters erupting into violence and rioting.
While speaking Thursday on conservative radio talk show host Joe Pags’ syndicated program, a discussion ensued concerning the startling contrasts between Antifa/Black Lives Matter “protesters” and average Trump supporters.
“Black Lives Matter, Antifa are always taking over cities and burning things down and starting trouble, and we’re told ‘don’t worry about it, 94 percent of the time they’re perfectly fine, and it’s all peaceful,'” Pags said.
“Only” six percent of all Antifa/BLM “protesters” behaved violently, Democrats and their media allies keep claiming. Yet that’s a remarkable number, Pags continued, because far fewer than six percent of Trump supporters who showed up for the “Stop the Steal” rally on the 6th wound up rioting.
“I think it was probably less than one percent that actually ended up being violent. Why is it now we can paint all conservatives with a broad brush — everybody’s violent — and you can’t say anything about liberals, but Antifa and Black Lives Matter clearly are violent when they show up somewhere?” he said.
He was correct. As of mid-March, only roughly 300 Trump supporters out of 200,000 (or .01 percent) had been arrested for the Jan. 6th riot, according to CBS News.
Listen to the discussion starting around the one hour mark below:
Johnson responded by arguing that false narratives are purposefully being pushed to benefit the Democrat Party.
“This is exactly the narrative that the left and the Democrats want. They want America to believe that 74 million Americans that voted for President Trump are potential domestic terrorists or possibly even armed insurrectionists that need to be monitored, that need to be reeducated, that need to be suppressed. They want to destroy the conservative movement,” he said.
Pulitzer Prize-winning liberal journalist Glenn Greenwald, a fierce critic of the institutional left’s attempts to weaponize the Jan. 6th riot, would likely agree with that assessment.
Johnson then admitted that personally, because of there being no history of Trump supporters lashing out violently, he’d assumed everything would be just fine on the 6th.
“Even though those thousands of people were marching on the Capitol were trying to pressure people like me to vote the way they wanted me to vote, I knew those were people that love this country, that truly respect law enforcement, would never do anything to break the law, so I wasn’t concerned,” he said.
“Now, had the tables been turned — Joe, this could get me in trouble — had the tables been turned, and President Trump won the election and those were tens of thousands of Black Lives Matter and Antifa protesters, I might have been a little concerned.”
And for good reason given BLM/Antifa’s history:
2020 has been grim. I watched city-after-city burn as extremists from antifa joined forces w/BLM to wage war on America. My hometown of Portland has been ravaged by 7 months of riots, which still continue. I dive deep into all this in my forthcoming book.

After the interview, members of the press took a select portion of Johnson’s words and shared them out of context to attack and smear him.
To hear them tell it — “them” meaning virtually every single “journalist” and mainstream “news” outlet in America — Johnson had been defending the 300 or so rioters, claiming THEY were the ones who “truly respect law enforcement,” etc.
Here’s one example: “Johnson (R-Wisc.) said … he didn’t feel threatened during the Jan. 6 Capitol riots, but if Black Lives Matter protesters or members or Antifa had stormed Congress instead of Trump supporters, he would have been ‘a little concerned,'” Axios reported in what was a blatant lie.
See what they did there? Because of this deceitful reporting, which is typical for a press that increasingly functions as the press wing of the Democrat Party, social media exploded with phony accusations of racism and bigotry aimed at Johnson.
Here’s a sample of the accusations below. Keep an eye out for false conclusions. Also, take note of how many of the senator’s critics identify as “journalists.”
