Stupid is as Stupid does. Racial slurs are not an opinion, not a dissenting point of view, they are just plain ignorance. This is a valid reason to terminate employment, and his opening excuse "that he thought the mike was turned off" creates the impression that this is not the first time he has used such language, and does so regularly.

Correct.

The man was bold enough to even tell an Oklahoma City television reporter that the n-word is part of his vocabulary. He claimed that he’s “working to remove it.” But it appears his contractors removed him first.

It's a LOT more than "just plain ignorance." What that announcer did was ACT on that ignorance, using his position to do so. While "just plain ignorance" is the basic condition racists have, voicing a racial slur or acting to limit someone's freedom or physically hurting them, etc., etc., is ACTING on that ignorance. Those are elements of behaviour that are commonly delineated by prosecutors or persons in leadership positions when responding to such acts and delivering consequences.

My diabetes some times makes me, kinda slur words, maybe hesitate to form the words. Never has it ever made me spout the garbage this A-hole did!
