I don't understand why they don't get rid of that stupid rule. In the beginning, all that was needed was a simple majority to pass bills. Then they started a thing called a filibuster, and it required a 2/3 vote to end it. However, the Senator engaging in the filibuster had to stay on the Senate floor the entire time. Once he left, his time, and the filibuster, ended, and they were back to a simple majority to pass the bill. Then they decided to let Senators filibuster without being in the Chambers. Then they started a thing called a Legislative Hold. Meaning they were going to filibuster if they didn't get their way. Yes, both sides have done it, and both sides have allowed it. But, IMHO, it is the single biggest reason the Senate cannot get anything done anymore. I am not advocating for ending the filibuster. I simply want to see it returned to its original form. Lets get some damn work done, and end this need to vote on a bill twice just to get it out of the Chamber.
