I was watching a documentary where someone that went through SERE mentioned that it's really easy to teach techniques about what to do in captivity but there's one thing they do not prepare you for (from his perspective). You know when you enter SERE training that it will eventually end but he mentioned there is no training for enduring punishment that lasts for years. He was referring to POW's in Vietnam and how most of those prisoners likely cracked at some point due to the constant beatings, torture, and interrogations that lasted for years.

Yes. One thing SERE attempts to get across to you is that everyone eventually cracks. You must do your utmost to delay giving them anything...the longer you can stand it, the less valuable (dated) anything you know becomes. SERE also trains you that you CAN recover after being forced to divulge information. You can heal and repair yourself mentally and come back strong again.

They ran a local SERE school at 2d MAW Cherry Pt. when stationed there in early 80s. Likely not as inclusive as USAF or others. Some got TAD orders there to assist as hombres.
