So do I, a few changes to security around the WH and Capital made as a result of this. But then our local mailman made it to the capital a few years back.

If this happened today, they would be shot down with a stinger missile.....

Cpl Benjamin Long
Manufacture of stinger missiles started in 1981... in 1974 they would have had to use 25mm gatling guns to take down aircraft

Shortly after this incident, the Secret Service not-so-discreetly added a pair of Redeye missiles to the array of defensive weapons on-hand at the White House, Cpl Benjamin Long.
And there weren't any 25mm Gatling guns available back then. The M163 and M167 were both 20mm.

You mean like the stolen Cessna 150 piloted by Frank Corder that he crashed into the White House in Sept ‘94, killing himself? Shot down like that?
Or do you mean since the institution of the Flight Restricted Zone around D.C., like when Doug Hughes the postman penetrated all 30 miles of restricted airspace, and landed his gyrocopter on the U.S. Capitol lawn in April 2015?

You make it sound like a sane person might hesitate before launching an anti-aircraft missile at a slow-moving unidentified aircraft flying over a city, Maj (Join to see).
