Fine if you don't mind showing up at a tank battle with a truck. Can it survive a tank main gun hit? If not, air or other fires will have to protect them. Or US Army tanks. The article refers to two armor "kits". It already weighs 6.4 tons vice 4 for a hummer. I'm sure they have thought this through. High mobility and lethality, but may lack survivability. TBD. https://www.strategypage.com/htmw/htarm/articles/20200308.aspx

This might work in an open battlefield. What happens when you need armor for an urban fight? The army needs to dedicate an armored brigade in DS of the Marine Corps.

Yes or the next gen of TOW and other systems. The Marines rely on organic air which is very effective at killing armor. What happens when you find yourself in an urban fight with no armor? The army may not have the same priorities like supporting the Marines with armor because the CMC got rid of 4 tank battalions almost overnight. The Marines were never armor heavy but had enough to make a difference. Not anymore.

Maj Timothy Robertson Sir, I’m familiar with the MAGTF philosophy, I spent the first 8 years of my career as a Marine.
I’m still trying to mentally absorb the thought process behind the idea that Marine Corps will not be engaging in a stand up armor fight in the future.
AMTRACKs and LAVs weren’t especially known for their robustness against anti armor threat weapons. My experience with the MAT-V and subsequent supplemental armor variants still left a lot to be desired in survivability. I don’t know how the JLTV specifically differs from the MAT-V, but if it shares under armor then it’s still only a marginal improvement over the factory up-armored HMMWV and MAK kits.
