Yesterday I posted some good music from the 1940s era and today I am focusing on the Big Bands of the Era and this first one is a Glenn Miller favorite titled Moonlight Serenade... Here is a short description...
"Moonlight Serenade" is an American popular song with original music by Glenn Miller and subsequent lyrics by Mitchell Parish. It was originally named "Now I Lay Me Down To Weep." When Miller recorded "Sunrise Serenade" in 1939, he placed this song on the back. It was an immediate phenomenon as an instrumental arrangement and was adopted as Miller's signature tune.
The most striking part of the piece was its use of clarinet-led saxophone section, which is widely considered the classic Glenn Miller style. The first eight bars of the melody follow the form of the 12-bar blues. The song is a premier example of the American big-band sound from the mid-twentieth century.
There is no singer for this one, just Glenn Miller's Band, but it is a classic from the late 1940s...

Perfect, I remember Moonlight Serenade well. I can remember my mom and dad dancing to it. Thanks for the memory.

Glenn Miller is my favorite of all the big bands, Sgt (Join to see), and Moonlight Serenade is his signature song, of course. His sound was unique in that the woodwinds played a much larger role in the creation of the sound, whereas most bands had the brass as their primary sound.
