I get to see these fly, and others like them, daily. I live near the plant that is doing the work, and I get to sit outside in my yard and see the flights overhead. I got really excited the other day when I saw an AWACS. The AWACS to me is the coolest concept.

Good read and pretty much my thoughts. I've posted before on the fallacy of the all purpose fighter. Heck I flew one, F-111, and it was great at what it could do but there was still much that it couldn't.

Good read. We've put a lot of our eggs in the F-35 basket. Way too much money in it.

Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen
Cost should never be the determining factor once a production decision has been made. Worry about cost only when deciding which platform to send into production. Congress cutting costs is what got us into this mess of having aircraft fleets to small to be effective.

Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen - Hopefully it will pay off eventually. Congress has always muddled things. I think the only thing they have gotten right is saving the A-10.
