The title of this euro-article is misleading. When pushing back against European Union propositions, Poland and Hungary have been arguing that the term “gender” is not used in the EU treaty and the two countries want the use of "equality between men and women" to continue in EU policies. So they are not trying to “eradicate” gender in EU policies.
Poland underlines how important legal clarity is, that the EU should stick to it’s treaty regulations and the treaty of the European Union very clearly refers “not to ‘gender equality’ but to ‘equality between women and men,’ ” a Polish diplomat said. He also said, "We see no need to redefine that and we do not appreciate attempts to do so. We should rather follow legal norms instead of inventing new ones, especially if they may be prone to uncertain interpretations and various translating problems.”
The Christian / Catholic-based countries Poland and Hungry, followed by other Slavic neighbors, are finding they hardly want to keep step with the ultra-liberal, amoral ( immoral) ideologies of the European Union. It is my hope as a Polish American that Poland stages an Polexit from the EU.
