Sad story all around. This never should have happened. My sympathies are with SSG Melgar's family and friends and fellow warriors who were not part of this.

What I think happened was he was in a choke hold. They saw he was unconscious but continued the choke hold until he was dead. They knew knew the parameters of how dangerous a choke hold could be.
