He missed a point, in how the enactment of the Seventeenth Amendment has screwed up the balance between individual representation and state representation.

PO1 Kevin Dougherty - as much as it should be repealed, it likely won't be. Most of the public don't understand why it was set up that way, and think that they should directly elect the senators. They don't understand that the senators were never intended to be the representatives of the people, but were the States representatives.

I was gratified to see the allusion to the French revolution and Napoleon.... btw , Napoleon was an Emperor, not the the ruler of a constitutional republic, and eventually defeated by the duke of wellington at the battle of Waterloo.
