Bhopal: The World's Worst Industrial Disaster, 30 Years Later

On December 3, 1984, the Bhopal disaster occurred. A Union Carbide pesticide plant leaked 45 tons of methyl isocyanate and other toxic compounds in Bhopal, India killing 2,259 (official figure). Other estimates were as high as 16,000 (including later deaths) and over half a million were injured.
