Opinion | How college during Covid taught me the truth about "good" grades

This article is consistent with what we've seen with our graduates. Prospective employers don't really care as much about the students' GPA as they do their relevant industry experience (that can be gained through an internship). To an employer, as long as you have "good enough" grades, they're fine with that. They care more about what you bring to the table for their organization. So, an acceptable GPA threshold exists, above which it doesn't add much additional value to your candidacy for a job. I tell our students to do well enough academically (to progress towards graduation), but don't short-change yourself by focusing too much on the books, at the expense of not getting out into the industry to gain experience, stockpile accomplishments, and develop connections.
