The Commandant of the Marine Corps is charging into the future, but some aren't ready for change

I feel deep inside as well as mentally visualize where the Commandant wants to be and it makes perfect sense if you have been recently in a combat zone, the prevalence of support from other forces besides the Corps, or members of a Joint Task Force (JTF). Duplication of strengths does not make one stronger. It is a political and logistical nightmare.
To succeed on the battleground, quick, precise attacks that neutralize the threat and a support force that quickly adapts to the CURRENT battlefield will win.
I am also in favor of a single American fighting force to further reduce the logistical and political quagmire of duplication of force.
Of course, they have to meet USMC standards, bearing and customs. Ooorah!

To paraphrase a Rand study over 46 years ago, if a military unit isn't continuously changing its not keeping up with what is needed to accomplish its mission.

One of the most difficult things to do is to prepare properly for future wars. Who would have predicted we would fight Iraq twice and invade Afghanistan? Eliminating tanks means a huge reduction in ground combat power. A tank platoon of 4 can service 160 targets with its main gun rounds.
