My mother was a social worker for 30 years and she would never want to walk unescorted into a lawless part of town. The social worker needs to have a Badge, a radio, a side arm, handcuffs and a taser.

When people say "defund" it's to take away things from cops that they shouldn't be handling so they can focus on crime.
Then train some of these cops as social workers. The police union can pay for their college, etc. But there are things that cops don't need to be handling and they will tell you that as well.
